(This tightness at waist and thighs can occasionally be visible with clothes.) These don't "skim" - they constrain. I'm a medium and ordered large - they were too tight and constricting to countenance for 5 minutes. For people who don't mind feeling controlled and tightly held in flattened place, these Skimmies will be strong and last long. Feels too much like an extra layer for me. The cut works well - the waist is a good height at just under the belly button. Yes, they let the skirt glide and proved coverage from wind blow-ups but they slide up on my thigh and expose the flesh where it rubs. I have two pairs of the longer ones, too, and they are long enough that they don't do that. I think if you were thinner the short ones might work, but not for me. I wore them last Friday during a dance performance and they felt great! I didn't experience them rolling up the legs like others commented. I chose the shorter style to fit under different length dresses and plan to purchase more in different colors. <br /><br />Although I'm a size 6, I purchased a large instead of the medium since the other reviews advised to buy a size larger. Glad I listened since the large fit perfectly! The material washed great, didn't shrink and didn't create lint balls. (These won't be fun in warm or tropical climes.) The strong, well made bands are too tight at the thighs for comfort - I don't need the waist or thigh bands to be tight. (This tightness at waist and thighs can occasionally be visible with clothes.) These don't "skim" - they constrain. I'm a medium and ordered large - they were too tight and constricting to countenance for 5 minutes. For people who don't mind feeling controlled and tightly held in flattened place, these Skimmies will be strong and last long. Feels too much like an extra layer for me. The cut works well - the waist is a good height at just under the belly button. I loved the original but they always peeked out from underneath dresses when I sat down. These slip shorts are the perfect length for me. Purchased both the shorter and longer lengths for wear under summer skirts and dresses. Since it's currently winter I haven't worn them yet other than trying them on. For people who don't mind feeling controlled and tightly held in flattened place, these Skimmies will be strong and last long. Feels too much like an extra layer for me. The cut works well - the waist is a good height at just under the belly button. They are super comfortable and great material. They sit slightly below the waist (so no pantyhose feeling)and because of the stretch, you can pretty much place them wherever you want on the upper thigh. If you want them to be a little longer as a under-clothes "smoother" you just adjust the legs a bit lower on the thigh (works great btw!). If you want the boyshort feel, you just adjust them a bit higher. Typically you dont wear underwear with cycling shorts, but sometimes there are times that you feel better with some on. Regular underwear leave me chafed so painfully bad that I have considered getting a pair of men's boxer briefs to wear at times while biking. These were a great alternative to having to wear mens undergarments. They stay in place and are moisture wicking.
