The quality is not near the same as the ones from the 70's and 80's. I wish they still had the styling with the white piping with the color fabrics or patterns. These newer ones are larger in the waist while being tighter down below. The older ones had a tighter waist for the same size.
I am 70, my Jockey "Life" of about '81 manufacture in the USA, are now very soft, waist band elastic still flexible and very comfortable, and the label can be read. Two or 3 years ago, I purchased a bunch of Jockey "Classic" boxers (I can hardly read the label that is falling off, Made in Thailand. The elastic has given out and the shorts end up falling below my waist, and originally with pants and belt, the elastic cut into my waist. The cloth is still ok, but I doubt it will last the 25+ years of the Life shorts. A definite decline in quality. I have tried others brands, but have to return to Jockey for their superior design. But there is no comparison of today's product compared to Jockey Life of the '80's. At least fix the elastic to last longer, ergo: better quality and charge more if necessary.
these boxers are comfortable and fits great under fitted jeans and dress clothes. would love to see the return of the colors purchased in the early 80's including the ones with the color contrasting piping trim. at approximately age 13 our parents gave us money to purchase our own new school clothes. I purchased 2 pairs1 was a lt blue and the second a pink both with the white piping trim. after a few wears i got my parents to purchase more and I got rid of the briefs.
I wish you would bring back the choices available in the 1980's and early 1990's especially the pastel colors with wide trim. The current choices are dull and drab. I want something people will notice in the locker room and wish they were wearing!
Jockey tapered are the only boxers my husband will wear, but we have been disappointed in the change to S/M/L sizing. The smalls are too small and the medium is too big. A medium that claims to be for 32/34 naturally has to be a 34! So, we have to "boil" the mediums down by washing and drying in hot, and then they're OK. But no other boxers out there come in tapered that we can find, and my husband being smaller, the tapered fit much better than the full cut. Please bring back the numbered sizing!!!
WHY HAVE YOU DISCONTINUED THESE IN SMALL 28-30 WAIST? I have been wearing these boxers for 40 years and now you discontinue the small size. Don't you think there are slim man wearing your boxers? Please offer these boxers in the small size. Again!
Jockey, as others have stated, you've made a big mistake by no longer offering these in size small. Actually, you started losing your edge when you abandoned waist-specific sizing and just went with S-M-L, etc. I thought the whole idea of moving manufacturing from the USA to other countries was cost savings, so where's our cost savings and value when you offer LESS of a product? I was a Jockey tapered boxer wearer for over 20 years; I no longer buy your products. However, bring back the size small and I'll be a customer once again!
Very frustrating! Jockey decides to eliminate the small size! As a man of smaller stature, the tapered boxers were a perfect fit for me. I was a loyal customer, and bought many packages of these at once. There are no good boxer alternatives for men of my size - wearing full length boxers feels even more ridiculous the smaller you get. Jockey, you just lost a customer. I recommend you talk to your product merchandisers, and find which genius made this decision - someone's head deserves a good shake! Do some market research next time...
I am a long time wearer of the tappered boxers. I really like the fact that there is less fabric to deal with. The look is also sleeker than traditional boxers. Cons would be a waist band that degreads and the discontinuation of the small size. I will no longer be able to wear these boxers.
Jockey you are making a big mistake by discontinuing the small size of these boxers. They are literally the only boxers I will wear and until recently I've been able to buy a new drawer full of them every year. I'm not sure if it's the growing obesity rate that drove this decision or what by i can tell you and same with the gentleman's review below me that there are many people who will now be looking at different brands when seeking a new pair of undies.
I have just recently married and find that Jockey is the only company that carries the 'tapered' boxer which happens to be my husbands FAVORITE style. I could not find even one pair in any of the local retail stores, so I was extremely happy to be able to make this (internet) gift purchase directly from the Jockey website. This style sets Jockey apart from all of the other 'boxer' brands. Would love to see this style expanded in seasonal color choices and available in the local department stores.
I used to buy these boxers for many years when they were more specifically sized, i.e. 36 or 38. Now that they are 36-38 and 40-42, the fit isn't as good. I have a 38" waist, so the 36-38 is too small, and the 40-42 is too large. But the fabric is nice and breathable.
I have been wearing these for years and just picked up more pairs to replace some that had worn out. I love that these don't ever bunch up/ride up like normal boxers. I wear them under jeans, dress pants, or any long pants. I don't wear them under shorts, as they tend to be a bit shorter than normal boxers, and don't want to give any free shows. (I wear boxer briefs or trunks when I wear shorts to prevent this) My only complaint is that these really wear out fast. I usually have about 15-20 of them in my underwear drawer at a time, (I do laundry once ever other week) and usually end up buying a few pairs at least 3 times each year due to the material ripping or eventually wearing out in the crotch. Kinda annoying for boxers that usually run [$] each.
They are the shape and feel I have had for years, but the current size agenda has left me with no choices that fit. Past specific waist size was workable 34",36" etc. [...]Neither of which are acceptable fit for my 35 inch waist.
You've had this style for years but you used to provide it in several colors and/or patterns at any one time. Now you're at white, blue and two plaids? Until you bring some life back to these things, I've gone to other providers for some color and originality.
The boxer fit is great. It's perfect for someone who doesn't want full cut, baggy boxers but also doesn't want to go to boxer briefs. They're still a little roomy in the seat, but overall a definite improvement over standard boxers.
But what is with the lack of smalls? This is holding a lot of people back from buying them - Particularly for a product designed to be slim fitting.
Tapered boxers are hard to find in stores so it is nice to see Jockey still offering them. Because these are tapered they fit well under any pants. I wear a medium and these are true to size. I like the fit. The feel is decent but 100% cotton would feel softer than this cotton/poly blend and the waistband could be better made. Overall though I am satisfied with this boxer and will likely replace my non-tapered shorts with these.
I have worn these underwear for over 20 years. The sizing and cut has changed recently. The new order is much smaller than my last order (same exact size ordered-large) and the cut now rides up in back and shifts over in front so Rumpelstiltskin sneaks out the front. Will be looking for new underwear have 20 years as a faithful buyer...
For many years, I used to buy the Boxers you discontinued SP CH 28-30. I looked around ALL the other manufactures to see if I could find a replacement, but without success. I tried a set of Jockey's I bought at a department store and took them back as they were full cut and very uncomfortable. Finally came back and ordered direct from Jockey MMM 32-34 and found them to be just as good as they are tapered, not full cut. So, now I know what to order in future. Thanks for producing a great product, as they are used on a daily basis and must be comfortable as well as stylish.
These boxers are what I have been looking for a long time. They are just the right length that I like, a perfect size waistband and lightweight. I wear them for everyday use and absolutely love them. They are perfect for me. I don't like having to pull down boxers when I put my pants on, but that is never a problem with these, as they fit perfectly. Just what I was looking for. Thank you.
Have worn these for years(1990), starting with the fact they don't balloon when you pull up your pants. The blended cotton wears well & holds up for years. I have 8 pair in the drawer & 4 in backstock. Jockey is making a big mistake not 'selling' them to department store buyers,to carry them regularly. There is nothing else available on the market.
Late fall to early spring, I prefer briefs and boxer-briefs for more warmth. But in hot weather, these boxers are great for keeping cool -- although I switch to briefs for gym workouts and then change back to boxers afterward.
I also prefer to wear boxers during doctor checkups. The Jockeys provide plenty of modesty -- without the bunching or bagginess.
I used to find these in local stores, but for some reason, can no longer find them. I tried other brands and styles, but nothing fits as well nor provides as much comfort as these. I'll never wear anything else from now on (underwear, that is!)!
I've worn these since high school (40+ years ago)and they as comfortable as ever but, unaccountably, now very dull on fabric choices. Nothing but plaids or bland stripes. Your new Signature Series boxers have interesting color combos but the legs are so long they nearly reach the knees on your models. How about putting some thought into the fabrics here?
Prior purchases of this product were based on exact waist size being available. Now, it's only Small, Medium and Large. As a result, the fit is not as good as I was used to in 10+ years of buying this style.
Bring back the paisleys. They would be a great addition to the current color collection. Softens up after washing a few times. In the "old days", they felt even softer after washing, but were still very durable.
I'm not generally a boxer guy. I like briefs and bikinis better (Jockey, of course), but sometimes you need boxers. There are only two boxer styles/brands that I really like -- one is the Jockey tapered boxer. (I probably shouldn't mention the other since it's a competing brand.)
The Jockey tapered boxer is very comfortable and fits well under slacks and jeans. I like the fact that the inseam doesn't go too far down the leg. Some guys like that, but I don't.
I agree with the other gents in that there should be more colors available.
The product is just fine. I am always upset by the fact that I prefer white or light blue and always need to buy in a two-color package, not of my choice of color. Why can't I buy a four pack set with my our choice of colors.
I have worn these boxers for many years, and they are great. However, my wife likes me in black and you don't offer it in that color! I like to make my wife happy, but I don't like the other types of boxers where black is available. Help!!!
I ordered a pair of these a while back and absolutely love them! A few weeks ago I decided they are going to be all I wear, [...]. They feel great and are incredibly comfortable. Please bring back the small size.
