All cotton is either combed or carded to align the fibers. Jockey uses the combing method because it makes the fiber smoother and stronger. Jockey cotton is also ring-spun, which makes for a more pliable, and ultimately softer yarn. These processes are more expensive and involved than other cotton processing methods, but the extra effort results in a superior garment - one that meets Jockey's high standards for quality and comfort. Here's an easy way to visualize the difference between combed and carded cotton fibers: – Combed fibers resemble long, flowing hair that's smooth and silky. – Carded fibers look like short, spiky-cut hair that's rough and textured.
